“We met Gabriel Cranley in the fall of 1998 when she was working as an OT at my mom’s rehab team. Casual chit-chat revealed that Gabriel and her husband lived temporarily with a sibling. My mother was so charmed by her that she invited Gabriel and her husband to live in her months-empty family home over the winter. This interaction began a family friendship that continues to this day.

After nine months of hospital care and rehab, my mother was desperate to return home. Despite the unlikely prospect that a person with quadriplegia with Parkinson’s could live independently, Gabriel was determined to make it happen. She itemized all the required wheelchair-friendly physical modifications, helped interview prospective staff, and trained them in my mom’s complex care.

In January 1999, Mom returned home for her 73rd birthday with round-the-clock care under Gabriel’s oversight. Gabriel quickly earned my mother’s admiration and trust. I was continually impressed with Gabriel’s skill and how respectful she was of my mother’s needs and wishes.

She even customized my mother’s therapy goals, including throwing (dropping) a ball for the neighbor’s dog and lifting a wine glass. For four incredible years, Mom resumed a rewarding social life, and our entire family was able to revel in her company rather than being overwhelmed by her medical needs. Gabriel worked miracles, helping our mother safely move home to live and age gracefully. We highly recommend her services.”
